At the Airport ![]()
Have you thought about starting your holiday on the very first leg of the journey at the airport?
Most people have lots to do before they make their way to the airport and find that when they get there they are running late and have to dash through check in and security to make their flight. Why not prepare well in advance and book your car in at the airport car park and treat yourself to a lounge pass so you can unwind in the bar, have spare time to shop in the duty free and enjoy your time at the airport. This way your car is safe, your routine is more organised and you can start your holiday before you’ve got to your holiday destination.
If you have an early morning flight why not check in to an airport hotel the night before, arrange airport parking from the next morning then all you have to do is get up, park your car and you are already at the airport so your holiday is already underway.
You can also arrange train transfers to all major airports if you dont have a car or wish to leave it at home in the garage.

- Get travel insurance and check cover is appropriate
- Get an EHIC card here to help access health care in EU member countries
- Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks before you go
- Make sure whoever you book holiday through is with ABTA or ATOL
- Make copies of your passport, insurance policy, 24-hour emergency number and ticket details

- Arrange travel insurance as soon as you book your trip to cover cancellation and curtailment
- It is important to be covered for medical expenses, personal belongings and cancellation
- Check the cancellation cover is enough to cover the cost of your trip
- Always declare pre-existing medical conditions and hazardous sports/activities to be undertaken

- Obtain a police statement within 24 hours of a loss: you will need one to claim against insurance
- Leave valuables, spare cash and passport in the hotel safe, not your room
- Keep all money exchange receipts to prove you obtained your currency legally
- Be aware many countries have on-the-spot fines for traffic offences
